You’re gaining, you’re losing. You’re straining, you’re choosing, A life crucified by a scale, And those numbers are your nails. Waistland, American wasteland. I can’t stomach standing next to you, And you can’t stand your stomach, can you? There is nothing as debilitating or disappointing as not being able to meet your own standards. My eyes arise from their view of these feet, As I begin to give myself less and less grief. No magazine approval needed to feel complete, Because it’s just a number. Waistland, American wasteland.
